JAMP Animated Explainer Videos
Problem

The Jamaica Accountability Meter Portal (JAMP) has developed online tools to help citizens track their MP's performance and monitor their government's accountability.
However, there is no widespread culture of accountability in Jamaica, and awareness of citizens' rights and available tools to exercise them is extremely low.
JAMP wants to convince dissatisfied Jamaicans to take action and show them how to get started. Unfortunately, JAMPO has had bad luck with previous animation teams who were unable to effectively craft and deliver their message.
Solution

We immediately recognized that before we could begin animation, JAMP needed help with clarifying their message.
While there were many valid points to communicate, the main goal of their message was lost. Based on our experience, even if the animation quality is great, it’s ineffective with an unclear script.
We conducted several messaging workshops to help them articulate their big idea, explain why their target audience should care, and most importantly, declare a call to action.
We then produced a six-part motion graphic animated mini-series on informative topics that even our team learned a lot from:
- Constituency Development Fund Process
- Asset Declaration for Parliamentarians
- 5 Tools of Parliamentary Oversight
- Jamaica's National Budget Cycle
- Citizen's Right to Access Information
- How the Auditor General Protects Our Future

These explainer videos helped JAMP win a 2021 Honour Award for their fact-based outreach and advocacy.
Unveiling Government Accountability
Empowering Citizens through Education and Advocacy
This video series is now being used in donor-funded workshops, local and global, to unpack the role of citizens in government accountability.
Due to their effectiveness in breaking down the concepts, these videos are now shown at the start of the public broadcast of Parliamentary sittings.
JAMP was recognized by the RJRG LEANER Honour Awards in 2021 with a Special Award for its fact-based initiatives to improve public accountability through outreach, advocacy, and transparent monitoring.
